Alex has gained significant transaction execution experience over his 25+ years in investment banking, capital markets and corporate development. He was the Head of Energy Investment Banking at one of Canada’s largest financial institutions and the Head of Life Sciences Investment Banking at a bank-owned dealer. As Head of Energy Investment Banking, he was instrumental in achieving significant growth, participating in $6+B of energy financings in his final year. Alex has successfully executed 25+ M&A and advisory assignments and 100+ financings.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction), and is a CFA Charterholder.
Alex enjoys spending time and travelling with his family and loves to get ‘rad’ on his mountain bike.
MICHAEL SHUMLICH, MSc, CFA
Co-Founder & Managing Partner
Michael has gained significant transaction execution experience over his 20+ years in investment banking and corporate development. Having worked at both bank-owned and independent dealers, he successfully executed 45+ M&A and advisory assignments and 110+ financings. Michael also worked in the corporate development and M&A department at Agrium Inc. (now Nutrien Ltd.).
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with Distinction), a Master of Science degree, and is a CFA Charterholder. His Master’s thesis was titled “An Attempt to Value Canadian Oil and Natural Gas Reserves: An Extension of the Hotelling Valuation Principle” and was presented at several research conferences.
Michael enjoys spending time with his young family and golfing.
